Why do often successful leaders in corporate structures get stuck when they start their own business?
I have many clients facing this challenge.
And the answer is that when we start a business:
- we take on more responsibilities and need to learn how to carry them effectively, while building resilience in the face of uncertainty
- we need to develop new skills and accumulate new knowledge
- we need to shift our identity in the unconscious mind from employee to entrepreneur
- and many unconscious patterns gradually start activating – patterns we need to transform into others that serve us better in building and growing a business
In my experience, these four reasons are among the deeper factors that block startup founders in their journey. If not addressed on time, they can gradually lead to other challenges that significantly affect the business growth and stability.
This is something I help founders overcome, and it is something I had to go through myself when I transitioned from employee to entrepreneur.
These four factors impact entrepreneurs’ actions, communication in conflicts, communication with clients, business partners, vendors, contractors, and employees, as well as their confidence during presentations, elevator pitches, and many other conversations necessary for business growth and team development.
When founders shift those inner states into others that serve them better, and develop what I call calm authority, everything begins to shift.
- Communication with all parties improves, including with business partners.
- Team dynamics change.
- Teams become more open, inspired, and willing to take responsibility, while cohesion improves considerably.
- Founders start attracting the exact people they want to join their team, and the feeling that “there are no people I can rely on” disappears very quickly.
And as a result, the overall effectiveness of the organization improves as well.
These dynamics often become even more visible during periods of co-founder conflict, painful separation, and leadership pressure inside growing businesses or other painful business transitions.
I explore these topics more deeply in my guide The Calm Authority Reset™ – available through the link here.
